1 April 2020 – Updates

Many, many thanks to the Shri Swaminarayan Temple – Neasden for their kind donation of 4 pallets of fresh produce today.

URGENT REQUEST… we are desperately short of volunteers for our Holborn Kitchen… if you can make it to central London by 9am on any day except Sunday, please sign up at

Other news today, national online petition site 38 Degrees has selected us as their nominated charity. Also, a photographer from the London Evening Standard visited this morning, and Dan Carrier from the Camden New Journal is helping us spread the word. Andy from FutureGov is pitching our mega-kitchen idea to London government, and council Chief Execs. We hope to know more by the end of the week.

Home Deliveries

Unfortunately, are not able to provide direct home deliveries.  We did trial the service for a couple of days, but the increasing demand on the kitchen means that we need all of our staff there.  We are happy for now to box meals at the kitchen for distribution from hubs.  HOWEVER, we will require hubs to package their own meals from bulk hot boxes of food that we deliver to them in the near future.  We will keep you updated.  We do hope that Mutual Aid groups and NHS volunteers will be set up very soon in order to make the deliveries.

Monday morning, and things are getting serious. Enquiries from Westminster Council, more expected. We offer a unique service but we are limited by space to 20,000 meals a day. We presume demand will be a lot higher.

Here is our proposal to London government: a mega-kitchen is the only practical way to meet the level of demand expected soon from London councils.

Write to your London council and let them know. We are doing the same.

Home Delivery Registration Online Shortly

It seems that there is some official delay in getting lists of those self-isolating to charities like us. This could be because of data protection rules, or DBS checks for volunteers, or some similar thing. They’re not to be blamed, it’s just they aren’t used to working in situations like this.
So we need to bypass the bureaucracy on this one. We need a bit of trust, and a bit of self-policing.
If you are living in the boroughs of Camden or Islington and you know someone that needs help, you will be able to register them directly with us from lunchtime, for a service starting on Monday.
If you are a community group based in the boroughs of Camden or Islington and you know of people that need help, you will be able to submit lists to us by email.
If you would like to volunteer to help get meals out, please register now at
If you come to us as a fake volunteer that chooses to scam vulnerable people at a time like this, I will personally break both of your legs, post “name and shame” photos of you along your street, and then ask for mercy at the court later.
Does that work for everyone?

Catering For NHS Staff

We are currently looking into the logistics of catering for staff at NHS Watford General Hospital. This could be something we can replicate elsewhere if requested.

Any high net-worth individuals out there, we have two invoices in need of urgent payment, one from wholesaler Natco for £4,421 and one from Hodmedod Foods for £9,500. If anyone’s got Richard Branson’s number, give him a call
