Happy Mondays At Gokula Vegetarian Charity Café
Since January 2018 Food For All set up a project to feed people in need in the Watford area. The project has become a huge success with up to 70 homeless, vulnerable and lonely people coming every Monday 11am -3pm. Volunteers collect food donations from supermarkets to make tasty, nutritious vegetarian meals. People enjoy a hot meal, dessert and cake and as much tea and coffee as they want.
The café has become quite a community hub and a much needed safe and friendly environment for people to feel connected to society rather than being treated as outcasts. This is sadly now a growing problem in every major town and city in England.
Food For All are hoping to receive funding to make Gokula a full time charity café where a ‘pay as you please’ system will be used. The café would also hold meet up groups and events to support people in need.
Without any publicity, only by word of mouth, Happy Mondays at Gokula has grown to be recognised for its amazing service to the community.
